Notes

Alan Cole
I have looked without success for an actor or theatrical person with the initials WGB. If you have more information, please contact me.

Peter Martin Lampel (1894–1965), real first names Joachim Friedrich Martin, volunteered for war service in 1914, and later became an air pilot. He was an artist and social-worker. The original name of the play was ‘Revolt Im Erziehungshaus’ (1929).

The Gate Theatre studio was a small, but famous, west end theatre and a number of famous stars had their début there, including Trevor Howard, the film actor, who, while still a student, made his professional debut in 1934 in 'Revolt in a Reformatory'.
